The Brissett Brothers - Durban's Infamous Identical Twins to be a part of Phase Twelve

Chad and Keelan Brissett are probably the most well-known identical twins in Durban. Their modelling career has rocketed in just a few short years and this is no doubt thanks to their relationship with one another that has evolved into the #BrissettTwins brand.

We got to know the brothers ahead of the #ProjectScouted Phase Twelve shoot where the twins will be posing with our Top 5 beauties in the "Day of the Dead" concept shoot shot by Jerome Stoffels.

Lee Folkard Photography: Who is Chad Brissett without his twin brother?
Chad: Chad Brissett is a young career-driven guy who enjoys the world of fashion as well as nature and all things beautiful. He is someone who enjoys all spheres of life and enjoys experiencing new things that he isnt accustomed too.

Lee Folkard Photography: Who is Keelan Brissett wirhout his twin brother?
Keelan: Well,  I'd say that I'm a very driven person who loves to keep busy and excel in everything that I do. I really love fashion and not just because I model but I just want to feel good all the time and quality clothing does it for me. I'm generally a very chilled, laid-back guy but I do have a wild, fun side which comes out every so often.

LFP: What do you think about the "Day of the Dead" concept for the #ProjectScouted Top 5 shoot?
Chad: I personally am a guy who enjoys more of the happy, fun style of shooting which is complete opposite to this shoot. But I believe its awesome to broaden your horizons so I think the shoot will be really fun and its always nice to try something different.

LFP: How did you become involved in the #ProjectScouted Top 5 shoot?
Keelan: #ProjectScouted has been trending everywhere and luckily enough I've had the privilege to meet and spend time with the talented Lee Folkard. I've seen him at all the big events and he is often with many friends that I know so it was bound to happen that wed work together. I'm very happy to be able to take part in #ProjectScouted, its also an ego-booster to have Lee Folkard want to work with us.

LFP: What's it like being an identical twin?
Chad: Its honestly the most amazing thing ever! People always say theres nothing like a mothers love for her child but I would say a twin's love is beyond the boundaries of love; its a connection that is unbreakable. My twin brother is my best friend, barber, stylist, psychologist, etc.

LFP: What's the worst thing about being an identical twin?
Keelan: In all honesty, there's not much I dislike about being a twin but the worst thing I'd say is if there's something available and there's only one of it, then Chad and I would have to fight over it which tends to happen more than I'd like.

LFP: How did you form your own identity when you have an identical twin?
Chad: Its quite hard for us as we are both so closely linked. But we do have different personalities as much as they are similar and I think once people have taken the initiative to get to know us they will realize we are different and do portray our own identities.

LFP: Do you think that you and your brother will be able to carry the #BrissettTwins brand forward until you're much older?
Keelan: I really do believe we will, weve just started building the #BrissettTwins brand and we have so many ideas and goals we want to achieve and that means pushing it through even until were older. The brand and name can never disappear as long as were alive so I'm almost certain wed find away to get the #BrissettTwins trending through the ages

LFP: How did you begin modelling and how did the decision happen to market you and your brother as the #BrissettTwins?
Chad: We started modeling about 3 years ago which we really loved. We created a strong bond with our former agent who helped catapult our career in the modeling world. We basically realized that us together was not just a team, but that we are a label which can be used to be marketed to the world. And people seem to be loving it so far!

LFP: Is there any jealousy or sibling rivalry between you two?
Keelan: We dont have jealousy or rivalry at all actually, we are however competitive with each other and want to beat each other when it comes to sport to campus marks, etc. This competitive nature is actually good because it keeps us pushing at a high intensity and grows us as people together.

LFP: How are you and your brother different?
Chad:  We are really not so different at all. I would say in terms of physical attributes, I am a bit taller and I have a beauty spot on my nose. But in other aspects I would say he is more of a neat freak as opposed to myself.

LFP: Have you guys ever pulled a prank on someone or fooled someone?
Keelan: Many times, but more so in our younger days. I remember we pulled an infamous twin-prank on a girl where we swapped clothes and she had no idea. The details I would have to share in person, though.

LFP: What's the funniest/weirdest thing that has ever happened to you guys because you're twins?
Chad: Well, we had exams and we wrote for each other before and it was awesome as we could study for one test less. Also when we get stopped by the police while driving, we sometimes use each other's license. (LFP: These guys definitely have a naughty streak!)

LFP: What do you want the world to remember about you?
Keelan: My humble nature and respect I have for all people.

LFP: What's the one thing you want people to know about you?
Chad: I'm just a really humble guy.

There is no doubt that these guys, combined with our beautiful Top 5 models and Jerome's photography skills, are going to make our Phase Twelve shoot all the more memorable as #ProjectScouted draws to a close.

Phase Three : Theme : #ProjectScouted

Words from the photographer: Tauhirah.

Girls should wear bold colours and prints, preferably dresses, skirts and chunky shoes.

Outfits should be fun, fashion forward and full of personality.

Hats, flower crowns, head chains would be nice and hair should be simple and casual.

Makeup should be simple/ almost nude eyes with a bold/ombre lip..

Tauhirah will be bringing along some props as well.

Ladies will be drawing names and will be grouped in three's for this Phase :)
So the final image will likely be composed to feature 3 ladies in one image. That's the idea.
Let's step it up a notch. #ProjectScouted

Lyle Young – A creative software developer and guest judge of #PhaseTwo of #ProjectScouted

Lyle Young is a really lucky guy to have gotten to be present at the #PhaseTwo photoshoot of #ProjectScouted on Saturday, 31st May, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and also now getting to be a part of the judging process of this phase where the girls will be hand-selected to go through to the next round. Seeing as this is an incredibly daunting and difficult task with the high calibre of talent in the Project this year, we got to know this software developer a little better.

Lee Folkard Photography: Who is Lyle Young?
Lyle: In a nutshell, I think I’m a simple guy who loves life and always, always tries to make the best of every situation that confronts him. I think I am motivated and ambitious which makes me passionate about reaching my goals and fulfilling my dreams. I like meeting new people and making life-lasting bonds. I believe that people are amazing and everyone is different in their own unique way. I like travelling and seeing new places and doing new things. I still have a huge to-do and to-see list that needs ticking off because it’s always worthwhile to take something special away from any experience.

LFP: How did you hear about Lee Folkard Photography?
Lyle: Like many people, I first came across Lee on Facebook. Back then, he did quite a few one-on-one photoshoots with clients and did a lot of birthdays. I knew many of the people he shot, one even being my cousin, and so I noticed his photography a lot and followed his work because of the high quality and because it stands out from the work of other photographers.

LFP: How did you become a guest judge for #PhaseTwo of #ProjectScouted?
Lyle: As a supporter of Lee’s work from the beginning, and building a friendship with him along the way, he had asked me to be a guest judge and I jumped at the opportunity.

LFP: What did you enjoy the most about the #PhaseTwo photoshoot on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium?
Lyle: I think it was such a fun day overall and that was what I liked. I’d really encourage others to come to the Project shoots as they’re open to the public for anyone to come watch or just say hi. Everyone had a good time and the mood was relaxed and friendly. I think the models enjoyed that especially so they didn’t become too nervous when they get in front of the camera. And there were lots of laughs as well! Plus, it’s never a bad thing being surrounded by so much beauty either!

LFP: What are the features that you will be looking for in the girls when judging their pics?
Lyle: Although I’m judging on pictures alone, I will take into account girls who didn’t need much direction and just got up and worked the camera naturally on the day of shoot. Beauty is an important factor but also their personalities need to shine through in their pictures. The theme was Sassy Sporty so they need to have nailed that aspect as well.

LFP: What's your favourite sport? Are you looking forward to the Fifa World Cup happening soon?
Lyle: Well, I am big supporter of SA rugby as well as our local sides in the Super 15. I try to see the Proteas whenever there is an opportunity and of course, I love soccer too which is really huge all over the world. So I am really looking forward to the World Cup. I really wish I was going though! Being in Brazil with the soccer World Cup on is definitely most guys’ dream. My favourite team has to be Spain.

LFP: Are you a creative person in any way?
Lyle: There’s a quote I read some time back, “Anything can be creative – you bring that quality to the activity. Activity itself is neither creative nor uncreative. You can paint in an uncreative way. You can sing in an uncreative way. But you can clean the floor in a creative way. You can cook in a creative way." So if creativity is seeing the world differently and doing things in a different way from the norm, then yes, I do think I am a creative person. As a software developer by profession, I also have to think out of the box.

As a guest judge in #PhaseTwo of #ProjectScouted, Lyle will be a big part of making the decision of who will go through to #PhaseThree of the Project along with the other regular judges; photographers Lee Folkard, Jerome Stoffels, and Samantha Duckworth. Lyle is definitely going to be bringing a fresh set of eyes to the girls that we have gotten to know thus far.

Sassy Sporty ladies at Moses Mabhida Stadium for #PhaseTwo of #ProjectScouted

Its difficult to believe that the FIFA World Cup was held in South Africa 4 years ago! Depending on the way you look at it, the time has either passed extremely slowly or extremely quickly. Now that the world has been hit with football fever once again with the World Cup set to take place in Brazil just around the corner, we thought that a fitting theme for #PhaseTwo of #ProjectScouted would be Sassy Sporty.

Are there many things in the world as appealing as beautiful girls and sport? Combining these two elements, the 40 girls chosen to be a part of the second phase of the Project caused quite a stir at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 31 June. Shooting in spots around the stadium, the girls were in their element working the angles of sports like boxing, soccer, surfing, and basketball, just to name a few, with added sex-appeal and femininity. This year's group of girls featuring in the Project are proving to be tough competition for each other as all these models posed with confidence and ease, fighting through having the sun in their eyes. Their determination is definitely going to be evident in the pics.

This leg of the Project saw Lee Folkard Photography's own Lee Folkard behind the lens, as he made up one half of the duo to shoot the girls on Saturday, taking the portraits that they will be judged on. Jerome Stoffels, who you can learn more about from our Q&A session with him featured on the blog, shot the full-length images of the girls as well as lurked about with his iPhone taking the candid shots we all love as well as some selfies too, of course. This is a tough photography duo to beat and these girls who got the chance to pose for them can count themselves lucky.

This time, the parents decided to drop off their girls with the team or just stick around at the restaurants at the stadium. There were a few other visitors who made a morning of the shoot too. Jessica Van Goeverden of Van.Go Photography who shot the girls in #PhaseOne; Nilufer Yucel of Nilufer Yucel Photography, one of the scouts of the Project; as well as Roy Esterhuysen of Firsthouse Photography, who will be shooting the girls at a later stage, all took care of the behind-the-scenes pics that can be seen on their respective Facebook pages.

Photography enthusiast and model, Zak Ashley Faurie-Williams, also came by and shot some candid pics. The guest judge of Phase Two, Lyle Young, also stayed for the morning, no doubt making some mental notes to assist with the difficult decision of judging the girls. And there were also several of the scouts who came by - Tyra Horsley, Ryan Francis who is also a sponsor of the Project and will be hosting a fashion show in #PhaseFour (keep an eye on the blog), Daniella O'Brien, Lailah Osman, Jami De Vries, Camo Clothier and Janay Manning who was also the winner of 2012's Project Exposure.

Although many of the girls are participating in the Project just for the experience and to get some great portfolio pics shot by some of Durban's best photography talent, the competition is definitely heating up and its going to be quite interesting to see how it plays out. Every girl has something uniquely special about her, now what matters is how they use that to their advantage to stick out from the group.

Project Scouted

Lee Folkard Photography is proud to announce it's 2014 project; Project Scouted.

The search has started as on April 1st.

With prior projects anyone could enter by sending through the necessary pictures and information.
This year we have decided to change things up.
We have selected scouts.
These scouts will be out and about on the lookout for potentials that they think could partake in the project.

Of course these scouts would not be able to cover the full spectrum that is Durban, so we have also opened the search to social media.
If you think you have what it takes and want the scouts to find you - all you have to do is add the hashtag; #ProjectScouted to any of your pictures on either: Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
This will alert our scouts that are browsing social media on the lookout for participants.

When scouted; the scout will get a form to you that you will need to send back to either the scout or info@leefolkard.com before April 25th.

Once your form is back you will receive further details within 24 hours. Should you not receive feedback - please contact your scout to inform them.

There will be one last public scouting opportunity: At Empyre Nightclub on May the 3rd.
To be added to the Project Scouted guest listing for the evening:
Sms or whatsapp your cell; number and full name to 082-49-58-613.
On the night; all you have to do is be there. Scouts will be around signing potentials up.

After this; PHASE 2 of Project Scouted will commence.

Remember at no point will you be asked to pay anything for participating in a Lee Folkard Photography Project.

We look forward to making this years project a memorable one.

Thank you.

Should you wish to interact or add anything to the project all you have to do is use the hashtag: #ProjectScouted. This will be used throughout the project.

Side Note: Should anyone wish to come on-board as a sponsor for the project, contact us ASAP.

Who are those girls?

I'm pretty sure by now, you've seen Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines music video.

And, since you have, surely you've noticed the three stunning girls prancing in the background in nothing but nude-colored underwear and white sneakers. They are (in no particular order):

Elle Evans

Elle is 23, Texas born and Louisiana bred. She models and acts in NYC, LA and Miami.
She used to date Deadmau5.

Jessi M'Bengue

Jessi (Jessika) is a model, an actress and a recording artist. She was born in Southern France to an Ivorian-Senegalese father and an Algerian mother.
She is ageless as far as we can tell...

And my fav: Emily Ratajkowski

Emily is 21, a London-born Californian of Polish-Israeli background who's been modeling since the age of 14. Before "Blurred Lines" came out, she appeared in campaigns for Forever 21, Nordstrom, and various swimwear and lingerie lines.

The Time Machine

"This device isn't a spaceship, it's a time machine.
It goes backwards, and forwards...
It takes us to a place where we ache to go again.

It's not called the wheel, it's called the carousel.

It let's us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know, we are loved."

Project One [ Group Shots with the Top 10 ]

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

So yesterday I had the Top 10 Shoot with the Project One girls.
At 07:00 girls started arriving. I got to watch the sun rise - which is something I never tire of seeing.

A few shots of each girl were taken - with intent of using them to upload onto the Photography Page for Phase 2 of voting. Prior to this people were voting on pictures submitted by the entrants.

Each girl will get one image uploaded this evening at 17:00 and they will remain up for 7 days. At the end the girl with the most votes will take the prize!

I wanted to take a group picture of the top 10 girls to add to the original logo that i had made for the Project.
My inspiration came from one of my favourite tv shows - Lost. See below - I was pleased with result.

The shoot went well and it was great to meet ten beautiful people.

After the mandatory pictures - a few group shots were taken. See below:

What do you think? Awesome bunch aren't they? Anyways - They need your VOTE :)
See: Lee Folkard Photography Page for more details!

Some of the girls stayed after the shoot wrapped up and we took a few more fun shots. I will upload some at a later stage.
