To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved

If you have ever been in love, you would know what a miracle loving someone else is. But if you have ever had the rare gift to be loved back by the person you love, you would know that the real miracle is being loved and not loving.

But even with how amazing love might be, to give and be given, it does not compare to being given the trust of another person. Love and trust should go hand in hand, but not all things work out idealistically. Someone might give you their love but not their trust, but when they do that’s when you know it’s really real.

Emotions are sacred; perhaps love the most sacred of them. But in giving someone your trust, you give them a key that can open up the doors to any part of you – parts that you had kept hidden. We can love but still be closed, but in trusting we open up ourselves to the possibility of agonizing pain and hurt.

To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved. If someone trusts you, it means they think that you are worthy of the most secret parts of them. That’s a gift and a compliment far more special than getting someone’s love.

The Logic of Feelings

The beauty found in the complexity and uniqueness of the human heart is almost unmatched. Every moment of our lives is scented with some emotion, some feeling, that lingers on into our futures; leaving us not with the perfect memory of the moment, but of how we felt in that moment.

Some think that to feel is to be weak, but to feel is not to be weak; it is to be strong enough to be true to the heart that is intrinsically human. Some of the most beautiful things in life cannot be described or documented, they can only be felt.

The mind may give up, but the heart forges on because that is who we are. Feelings come and go like the clouds in a windy day’s sky; and so they should not define who we are or what we do but steer us in the right direction to where we are supposed to be. “Listen to your heart” might be clichéd, but it is sometimes the best advice to follow.

The way we feel might not always be logical, but to feel is always logical. We do not feel because we are human, we are human because we feel.

[ feelings ]

I believe that one should always follow their feelings, regardless if they are logical or not.
Embrace your feelings I always say.

It does not matter if these feelings are good or bad, just embrace them and let your heart lead the dance.
This is why it’s OK to be sad. It’s OK to cry. It’s OK to dwell on your pain. You don’t always have to cheer up for the sake of another.

Today I decide to go against this belief.

Today I endure pain for love.

Today I walk past the warning sign.

Tonight I let fear feast.

Tonight I depend on faith.
