It's Sunday morning as I type this. My five day super juice cleanse ended on Friday.
I decided to see how my first day post cleanse went before posting this journal entry.
I took a look at my last batch of juices and realized how far I have come.
my last day of juices |
My Friday morning started with a photoshoot on a hot Durban day on Umhlanga Beach. I had my last "apple zinger" - quite an emotional experience - before heading off to my shoot, grabbing my first juice for the day.
"Berry Smooch" - a fruit and veg smoothie to start my day - very refreshing and tasty. Perfect for the beach.

After my photoshoot I headed back home, just in time to have my next juice - "Well Peared"; either day five has awesome tasting juices or my taste-buds have adjusted to the taste of nutrition.
It's as if my body craves what the juices provide.
My overall sense of taste seems heightened and when I drink the juice I can almost feel all the ingredients perfectly intertwining in my mouth.
For my next juice, I headed back to the beach - the weather in Durban was all sunshine. I sat on the sand and reflected on my juice journey.
It's been an experience I would advise all those I am close with to seriously consider. It's an investment in your overall well-being.
it's been quite the journey |
By the close of the day I had consumed my last "apple pie" and my juice journey had ended.
25 juices later, what seemed like it would be challenging, honestly seems like something I could continue doing if I wanted to.
I would like to thank Fiona, owner of Juice Revolution for this amazing product, for her knowledge and her encouraging and informative daily emails. The full Juice Revolution package is truly a "5 star" service of your mind, body and soul.
Waking up on Saturday with renewed energy I still have not had any coffee. I think I will lay off that for a bit longer.
It was weird eating solid foods. My portion sizes have definitely decreased and I feel full quicker.
I definitely have a heightened sense of taste. I can taste the oils and the sugar in my foods.
I thought I would be craving coffee and a medium rare rib-eye steak, instead I am craving a good sized salad and fresh fruit.
Also, I have no desire to eat sweet stuff.
Cake, sweets and chocolate - I just don't feel the need to have any.
Many people have asked me if the cleanse has made me lose weight - I'm not entirely sure as I did not weigh myself before starting.
My reason for doing the juice cleanse was more about ridding my body of toxins than weight-loss. A few people have seen me and said I look leaner and my skin seems more radiant. Both good signs - so I think I would attribute them to the juice cleanse.
Oh, before I forget - another positive that came with doing the five day juice cleanse was that having all my juices for the week resulted in me having a lot more time on my hands. I was able to be much more productive. No prepping food and cooking. No deciding what I would eat each day, for each meal. No need to head to the grocery store and buy ingredients for my meals.
This was pretty cool and something I didn't really consider before embarking on this journey.
I will be following up with one last Juice Revolution post this coming Friday. This will just be to update you on my week of adjusting back to normal life after my five day cleanse.
